Have you ever tried to meditate? If you haven’t you should give it a shot. Meditation can be done sitting in a chair, or even lying down in a bed. You get to choose the most comfortable spot for yourself. The practice of meditation is about being present in the moment. That is why one of the main focuses is on following your breath. You really get something good out of life when you can relax and take one breath at a time. In my experiences you get to a point of relaxation quicker and easier the more you practice. Over time the states of mind you can acheive will help you relieve anxiety, and it can also help with many other issues. That’s why it is a good choice to practice for people with anxiety and other mental illnesses. During my own meditation experiences I’ve been able to gain a greater sense of calm and peace that will journey in my mind throughout the day, not just during the meditative exercises. You too can find peace and happiness. There are many ways to enjoy the practice, one is listening to guided meditations on Youtube. If you are just starting and can’t sit comfortable for very long I suggest starting out with a 5 minute guided meditation and increasing the amount of time as you go on. Since being schizophrenic and meditating daily, I’ve found a way to cope with anxiety, and it’s a way for me to find peace. It’s tough as it is to understand the complexity of this illness, but one thing is for sure if you want to find peace and happiness in the moment give meditation a try. You might just get something out of it.
